Endurance Classics Part 1 is finally live. Getting this update out the door is a massive milestone for the studio, but our plan to launch alongside a synchronised global discount hit a significant, unexpected snag.
We wanted to lower the entry barrier for every driver today. As an independent, self-published studio, we miscalculated the rigid administrative timelines of console marketplaces. Our promise stays the same, the timeline needs to be adjusted.
The Storefront Timeline
We aimed for a simultaneous price drop. Instead, platform logistics have forced a fragmented deployment:
- Console Delays: Neither PlayStation nor Xbox allows for immediate, opportunistic price changes. Promotions require strict advance scheduling. As we understand it today, our earliest available console discount window opens on June 10, but we will do our best to get it out as early as May 27.
- Steam Disconnect: On PC, an internal configuration error triggered our 45 percent Deluxe Edition discount a week early, breaking our launch symmetry.
Why was this not verified ahead of time? We checked the general parameters but misjudged the execution windows. We approached retail logistics with a software engineering mindset, assuming pricing could be adjusted dynamically alongside code.
Console marketplaces operate on fixed, long-term administrative cycles that do not bend for shifting patch schedules. It was a blind spot born from treating storefronts like live-service deployments.
Bottom line. If you are waiting on the console discount arriving today, we missed the mark.
Accountability and Compensation
We cannot alter platform calendars, but we can look after our drivers. To balance this delay and acknowledge recent technical hurdles, we are planning a special livery/rennbucks collection to be distributed to our community as soon as we can.
We will ensure that there will be a half-price discount of an edition available for purchase as often as we are allowed, going forward.
